Steven C. Schachter, M.D., is professor of neurology Harvard Medical School (HMS) and associate director of clinical research, Division of Research and Education in Complementary and Integrative Medical Therapies at HMS, director of research, Department of Neurology, and director of research subject safety, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and director of neurotechnology for the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, Boston.

Dr. Schachter has directed over 80 research projects involving antiepileptic treatments and contributed extensively to the medical literature.  He compiled the five-volume Brainstorm series of books distributed to over 175,000 patients and families worldwide, in addition to having edited or written eight other books on epilepsy and neurology.  He is the founding editor and current editor-in-chief of Epilepsy & Behavior, named the Association of American Publishers’ best new medical or science journal of 2000.

Dr. Schachter received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH.  He completed a neurology residency at the Harvard-Longwood Neurological Program, and an epilepsy fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston.

He is a former chair of the Epilepsy Foundation’s professional advisory board, and serves on the Epilepsy Foundation‘s board of directors.
