Could I die from a seizure?

It is very uncommon, but not unheard of, for people to die with a seizure. In addition, people with uncontrolled seizures can experience a sudden death even in the absence of a witnessed seizure. This is very uncommon, but may occur up to one in every 300 to 500 people with uncontrolled seizures each year. Doctors do not know why this occurs or how to prevent it. However, people with many generalized tonic clonic seizures are at highest risk. This is one of the reasons to take medication regularly and not miss pills or decide to stop medicines without speaking to your doctor.
