The Membership Committee's focus is primary the recruitment of new members, review applications for membership and deal with any membership issues that arise during the year. Work with staff to send new members any information they need. Research and propose to Board any changes in membership categories or fees. Conduct periodic surveys of the membership and recommend to the board any new services or products. Explore needs of constituent groups as needed.

General Description:
The Membership Committee reports directly to the Board and is composed of a Chairperson appointed by the President and no fewer than three Active Members of the Society. Members serve staggered 3-year terms and not more than 2 terms consecutively. Their primary focus is on reviewing new member applications and admitting new members, determining membership categories and criteria (subject to Board and membership approval) concerning other matters related to membership.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Recruitment of eligible candidates for membership
- Review of new member applications; vote for candidates
- Present candidates to Board for acceptance on a monthly basis
- Send acceptance letter to members
- Develop more formal mentoring for younger members
- Look at programs for NEF/Top Scholar membership
