Basic Function
The Budget Committee reports directly to the Finance Committee and is responsible for advising the Society on the use of AES funds. The committee is chaired by the Treasurer, Treasurer-Elect and consists of AES Past Presidents. The Associate Director is the assigned Staff Liaison.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Reviews the Society’s financial statements to monitor performance in relation to the budget.
• Based on the Society’s strategic plan, helps develop budget priorities for the fiscal year.
• Helps staff and committees to develop the annual budget based on the strategic plan priorities for the fiscal year.

Revenue enhancement and diversification

1. Develop a process to carefully assess cost estimates for existing and new projects.
2. Develop a process requiring that all new projects create and present a project business plan.
